Dust of Snow

Dust of Snow

The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree

Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

-Robert Frost

When I first thought of this poem a few days ago all the local pines were well-dusted in snow, but it rained all day yesterday and today was sunny and well above freezing. There's not much snow left. So I used an AI image generator for my picture. I never would have gotten a convenient crow anyway.

I'd like to think I'd behave like Frost and be cheered up in such a circumstance, but it's quite possible I'd just look up and think, stupid crow...more likely to have been a squirrel here in any case. 😉

  1. I have always thought brevity was Frost's strength.

    1. He can pack a lot in, can't he? Simple, plain, and it says so much.

  3. Nice! And you anticipated my question about the snow. It poured rain even way up here all morning. There is still some snow left, and it shifted to lazy snowflakes just before dark, but nothing like your generated image+crow.

    1. It didn't completely get rid of the snow, but yes, it looks nothing like the lovely picture the AI gave me.
