Hubert and Gumby are crowded round for the results:
It's number 9, which means Virginia Woolf's The Years. An excellent choice. The spin gods have a certain liking for Virginia--this is the second time they've landed on her; the first was A Room of One's Own.
Do you know this one? Do I have a treat in front of me?
Did you spin and did you get something good?

I have read The Years. Only once, but I remember liking it. It's not my favorite of her books, but definitely not my least favorite either. Hope you enjoy it. :D
ReplyDeleteI don't really expect to like it as well as Mrs. Dalloway, but I do figure it will be good.
DeleteI've read "A Room of One's Own" and liked it a lot but have not read "The Years." Maybe I need to add it to my reading list. (Incidentally, I'm happy to have found your blog and I hope you will visit me in turn!)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found your way here! Off to look at yours.
DeleteI've only read 'The Voyage Out' so far by Woolf. I was rather pleasantly surprised by it...
ReplyDeleteThat's another one I haven't read! Some day...
DeleteOh, it has been a long time since I read V. Woolf (2018, Mrs. Dalloway). Ms. Woolf is not my go-to author b/c I have to be in the right mood to manage her fierce and passionate undercurrents and...thoughts that seem to be unspoken. Hope you enjoy your spin!
ReplyDeleteI agree you have to be in the right mood to appreciate Woolf--she's not an everyday read. But I see I will be...
DeleteI read this inspired by one of the Club years but not in time for the event; when it arrived via ILL I panicked inwardly, small print and one of the longer Woolf novels whereas I'd imagined it being like Between the Acts ...even though YEARS should have given that away... but I really enjoyed it. Not as much as I enjoyed New Grub Street, but definitely on the more enjoyable end of Woolf for me (BtA is my next to read in Woolf).
ReplyDeleteI've also yet to read Between the Acts, but since both are in one volume & I've pulled it off the shelf...
