Sunday Salon

By the way, that's apparently an old postcard of where Madame de Stael held her salons. I really should probably pick a graphic not dusty and in black and white, but that's what I found...

Top of the Stack

Since I finished Orlando Furioso earlier this week, it's time for some new things on the stack. And one of those things is The Faerie Queene. Spenser did love him some Orlando...

The #1965Club is coming up at the end of April. Both @BuriedInPrint and I pulled Miss MacIntosh, My Darling off the shelf for this one, but it may be time to start now.

Special Topics in Calamity Physics is on my TBR for Roof Beam Reader's 2019 challenge. @books4Maphead was recommending it and now maybe it's the next one.

And, hmm, those all qualify for the chunkster challenge. Maybe I should find a shorter book, too?

Because the size of the picture worked better, one cat (Puff) got to be my avatar picture. But the other cat (Fluff) wants equal time, or at least to get in the picture...

The Fabulous Uff Sisters

  1. Love the Fab Uff Sisters! Such beautiful faces and coats! I think I'm going to choose shorter books for the Club read, partly because I am also sincerely interested in some of them (long-time shelf-sitters, in a couple of instances) but also partly because I do want to make a project of Miss Mac, but I'm already bookmark-deep in a couple of demanding projects and I'm afraid I'd end up dropping the ball on Miss Mac if I begin it mid-year and mid (other) projects. If you take the plunge, I will be following along eagerly, hoping for a couple of tips perhaps too! And, if you delay, perhaps we can make a plan together for the near future.

    1. I don't know whether I'll actually make it to (or through) Miss Mac at the moment, but I figure I should at least give it a chance at the moment. I'm not in the middle of any other big reading projects (unless I start Faerie Queene in earnest) but there's the possibility of travel in the near which would mess things up a bit for a big book.

I'll keep you posted! And if I do flounder...likely enough...we can encourage each other at some point in the future.

  2. Congrats on finishing Orlando Furioso. Such books take me a long time to read, so I always appreciate the effort when someone else completes one. Good luck on your next endeavor.
