#ccspin: And the winner is...

...number 12, which, for me, is The Song of the Lark by Willa Cather. I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

Charles thinks the operations of chance have been a success!

Did you get something good?

  1. That's a Cather novel I've never read; looking forward to your review. I should read it sometime.

  3. Oh that's a great choice! As you know, I spun Great Expectations. I'm happy with the choice but not so happy with the length. In any case, enjoy Cather!

    1. I've read this one before but it's been a while. I remember it pretty fondly, but I've forgotten a lot of the details. I'm pretty sure Death Comes for the Archbishop was the first one I read, though it might have been one of the upper Midwest plains ones, too.

  5. I read Death Comes for the Archbishop long ago and maybe was to inexperienced as a reader to appreciate it because when I read My Antonia a few years ago, I was blown away by it. I need to go back and give Archbishop another whirl. I kind think I'd like to become a Cather completist...

    1. I remember liking Death Comes For the Archbishop, but it is pretty different, I think, from her others.

I'm close to finishing all the Cather novels and I'm thinking about just doing it this month. I'm in the middle right now of One of Ours, which I'm finding pretty great. And I'll need to read The Song of the Lark. And then the only one I haven't read is A Lost Lady.
